CyberpowerPC is one of our favorite boutique manufacturers and with a high-spec system like this year’s 2022 Gamer Xtreme VR Gaming PC GXiVR8080A8, it’s easy to see why. Our review unit is a beautifully designed and built tower, packed with the highest professional-grade parts, including Intel’s newest performance beast, the Core i9-9900K, and Nvidia’s RTX 2070 Super (8GB) GPU. Only professionals with extremely heavy workloads need this power, but the wide range of component options and reasonable prices means that gamers and those with lesser tasks can grab the TIS platform and keep going. Design

It looks like the Gamer Xtreme VR Gaming PC GXiVR8080A8 maintains the same style that CYBERPOWERPC has been exploiting since 2017’s Gamer Xtreme series. While we’d love to see a new design, there’s no need to, since the standard tower was built to allow players to players easy access to future upgrades, the LED light design meets its minimum lifespan. Age begins to show. But powerful desktops like HP’s Omen Obelisk or Dell’s Inspiron.

The front dash is plain glass with a dark base and a simple sideboard with a couple of concentric circles of LEDs and another on the rear fan dash. The other light has the CYBERPOWERPC logo on the internal cooling fan pointing to the clear side glass panel. Both the bottom and back panels feature ventilation holes, as does the top. The glass window not only helps showcase technology like liquid cooling containers and LED backlighting, but also adds visual interest.

At 18.5 x 8.2 x 18.7 inches in size, the Gamer Xtreme is more modest than most of its rivals, comparatively planned to allow for future upgrades. The IBUYPOWER Pro Trace 9230 is 19.48 x 8.54 x 19.76 inches, while the SkyTech Gaming [RTX 2070] is closed at Oracle X 18.7 x 8.27 x 18.5 inches.

Connectivity

You’ll appreciate the diversity of the Gamer Xtreme VR GXiVR8080A8’s front USB port. There are two USB 3.0 Type-A ports on the top and a separate headphone and microphone jack. On the back, there are another six USB 3.1 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, ready for external devices and external storage, as well as an Ethernet jack, a variety of audio jacks. The bundle also includes a gaming keyboard and mouse.

The Gamer Xtreme VR Gaming PC is easy to access, as the glass panel that covers the components can be removed with four simple thumbscrews. When removed, you have access to the internal components that swing out allowing you to easily replace parts. All in all, the GXiVR8080A8 is a well-designed desktop, though it’s not a space saver.

Productivity performance

The Intel Core i7-9900K is no slouch, especially when its 16GB RAM is paired with a 1TB PCIe-NVMe SSD. When not in use for gaming, the gamer makes the GXiVR8080A8 part of a workhorse. Although CYBERPOWERPC lists the Gamer Xtreme as a Gamer PC, small business owners and home users may adapt it for productivity reasons, given the machine’s high-end processors and graphics.

It will certainly complete intensive tasks in very few seconds, like in less than 80 seconds, 124 seconds of HP Omen Obelisk 8th generation processor in a single task. more than. Once again, the GXiVR8080A8 comes with a fast 1TB Solid State Drive that will house all your large files. The drive and RAM can be upgraded, should you need more space to store your documents, photos, videos, and game files.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super vs. Nvidia RTX 2070

Powered by an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super, the Gamer Xtreme VR GXiVR8080A8 Gaming PC is capable of gaming at the best settings without issue but allows ray tracing in select games. Back in October 2018, when the Nvidia Turing line launched, it promised stellar in-game performance with Kiran Tracing. And while some graphics in the lineup offered excellent gameplay, like the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, some mid-range cards, notably the RTX 2070, were pretty much discontinued.

With the RTX 2070 Super graphics card, Nvidia is certainly a bit right with the new GPU, promising much stronger performance in this version, making the already successful Nvidia Turing architecture available to the general public. It takes 2304 CUDA cores from the RTX 2070 and bumps everything up to 2560 and builds on high clocks with a boost clock of 1770MHz. The only thing that’s the same between the two is the memory which is stable at 8GB but the new iteration includes more RT and tensor cores and is rated for better beam tracing performance on 7 GHz lightning.

Games, Graphics, and Virtual Reality

You’ll easily get frame rates in modern games, so it’s worth upgrading from the base RTX 2070 GPU. When playing Metro Exodus (2019) in 4K on ultra settings, it runs between 33 and 36 frames per second (fps), with some screen tearing. But when you switch it to FHD, it runs smoothly at the 80-4 level, only dropping those smooth frame rates during some intense scenes.

The GXiVR8080A8 reproduces the Hitman 2 (2018) benchmark (ultra settings) at 81fps in FHD, matching the Trace 9230 and beating the average. Edge rate dropped to 61fps at 4K, just below average for MSI’s gaming machine and workspace.

On Shadow of the Tomb Raider (highest settings), the GXiVR8080A8 gamer hits FHD at 4K and 109fps at 43fps, well above the gaming desktop average (94fps and 34fps, respectively), but only in our context. of revenge. Is under. comparison group.

On the Grand Theft Auto V (2015) benchmark (extremely high settings), Gamer Xtreme runs at 140fps in FHD and 102fps in 4K. The first number is higher than average, but the second is lower.

The Xtreme GXiVR8080A8 achieves an ideal score of 10 on the SteamVR run test.

Our Rating | Excellent

On the one hand, the CyberPowerPC Gamer Xtreme GXiVR8080A8 is fantastically built, extremely powerful, and nice to look at, but offered at a very competitive price on similarly configured gaming desktop PCs.

Advantages
  • Great gaming performance
  • Very fast SSD storage
  • Well designed box
  • Spacious interior
  • Fair prices
Cons
  • Lack of USB-C, Thunderbolt 3 port

Conclusion

As always, the high-end configuration of the desktop in particular is a bit of a pain to review. On the one hand, the fantastically built CyberPowerPC Gamer Xtreme GXiVR8080A8 is extremely powerful and good to look at. On the other hand, the average consumer isn’t falling anywhere north of a grand on a desktop, and these fully bloated setups aren’t cut out for most people. CyberPowerPC will let you build a much less expensive form of a similar workspace, something like the CyberPowerPC Gamer Xtreme GXiVR8060A8, and you’ll get a similar form of quality and performance.

However, for a seasoned gamer or IT manager, or a personal professional, buying a PC that’s powerful enough to crush an on-demand workload at a great price, the Cyberpower gamer Xtreme GXiR8080A8 Performance build won’t disappoint. The new Ryzen 9 3950X may outperform the Core i9 used here, but the raw power and capacity of the Intel chip make it ideal for most budget-conscious hardcore users.
