Best Curved Gaming Monitor 120HZ USA 2022
The Alienware AW3420DW is a great 120Hz ultrasound curved gaming monitor for both work and play. As expansion panels become more widespread and some become more affordable, it’s now possible to multitask and get the most out of your PC like never before. Last year’s Alienware AW3418DW was our favorite of the year, with our review model striving to make gaming more enjoyable thanks to its high resolution (3440 x 1440), short response speed (2ms), and timeless design. Plus, you get premium RGB lighting and convenient menus that are great to use. Read more about Best Curved Gaming Monitor 120HZ 2022.
Alienware recently strengthened its gaming portfolio plans, and the AW3420DW sports the company’s new Legend plan, like the leading Alienware Area-51M and 15M PCs, and in the exceptional Aurora R9 desktop. The same aesthetic language is also available.
The back of the monitor stand is a masterpiece of design, featuring an oval-shaped RGB light ring with an RGB header on the back of the screen. While you can’t justify the idea of having a light effect on the back of the monitor, it’s not that you see it every day, but it does take away some impressive lighting effects on the wall behind it.
On the right side of the monitor, all the buttons are located. It has a little stick that allows you to open the full settings menu, there are also three other buttons on the back that you can use to access some quick settings or navigate the main menu. Additionally, you can control the RGB lighting through the Alienware Control Center software available after connecting the monitor to your PC via USB.
At last, on the plan, Alienware worked very hard with Bezels. They’re not that thick, in fact, less noticeable, but they’re there. This all follows the latest Alienware designs we’ve seen over the last couple of years, but we just want them to come up short on the bezels here. After all, Alienware is owned by Dell, and if they can have endless performance in their premium laptop lineup, why should their premium gaming monitor have some thick bezels?
All ports are protected by a light shield that slides out and snaps on easily. The right side houses the power, HDMI, and DisplayPort bracket here, and the opposite side houses two USB-A ports, with a dedicated USB port for connecting your PC to the monitor for lighting control. This is the same port that enables the rest of the USB port on the monitor.
There are additional ports on the bottom of the monitor, including a quick-access USB-A port and a headphone jack. This small space is also illuminated, making it easy to connect peripherals even in a dark room. You’ll love the many USB ports here, but they won’t be enough to meet all of our needs.
However, to monitor such a value, it’s a bit of a hassle to limit yourself to a couple of just two display inputs. We were expecting a second DisplayPort at least, better yet, even a USB-C connection port.
First things first, the Alienware AW3420DW looks classy and can’t be argued with. No matter what content you’re viewing on screen, may it be a working spreadsheet or the latest game, this monitor just takes the class away.
Playing the remake of Resident Evil 2 is exciting as the monitor makes the zombies, the slow, hairy, whiny guys, amazing again. You drown easily in the bulge of bloody flesh, and through broken windows and shattering shadows, you come to life before ever. And in a sport that is contrasting in tone and color palette, the scavenger looks amazing, with all its blue color and fluid movement. Simply put, no matter what game you throw at this monitor, it sounds amazing.
Incredible gaming performance is not only due to the 120Hz refresh rate, but it’s also dropped to just 2ms, meaning even the fastest online games won’t be slowed down by a mediocre monitor. Here, you have excellent image quality and fast performance – you have to deal with that, which is a hefty price tag.
Adding to its gaming test, the Alienware AW3420DW is a G-Sync panel that counts for such a high resolution. In some games like Metro Exodus, you’ll get around 50fps, but thanks to G-Sync, everything feels like you’re playing at a native frame rate. As long as you have a compatible Nvidia graphics card, G-Sync is a cheat and that’s what we all like.
When there are no games, this monitor will allow you to get some work done. With ultra resolution, you can open two large browser windows side by side on your PC without having to press the Alt key. It saves a lot of time, and at this point, we readily recommend an ultrasound monitor to anyone, often with a lot of work to do on his computer.
Overall, the AW3420DW is a premium ultrasound monitor that is super powerful and provides excellent image quality, even though most users on a tight budget secure attractive value for the purchase. More affordable 34-inch options include the LG 34GL750-B and ASUS ROG Swift PG349Q, of course, you spend less, but you lose with higher resolution and short response rates, both options, respectively. So if you don’t want the best and the best consideration on the price then Alienware AW3420DW offers a solid expression for you.
Our Rating | Excellent
The Alienware AW3420DW is an ultrasound monitor that ticks all the boxes for high-end gaming with a beautiful design, high resolution, and short response rate, making it the best choice for work and play.
- Excellent image quality
Low response rate (2ms)
- Not so cheap
- We, Will, will have to do with more ports.
The best curved 120HZ gaming monitor, the 34-inch AW3420DW feels like a dream monitor on paper, living up to its character as the best gaming monitor with high resolution, rejuvenating color accuracy, and a premium design. The limits and railings here come at a price, but every coin is worth the money you spend as we haven’t seen some of our favorite PC games because they look so good here.
If you’re still looking for a large-format, high-refresh-rate gaming monitor that stays bright and has great picture quality, we’d suggest the larger of the 34-inch Alienware AW3420DW gaming monitors.
